Since China unveiled its master plan five years ago to transform Hainan Island into a global free trade port, the province has made remarkable strides in expanding its openness to the world, with rapid growth in foreign investment, cross-border trade, and international business presence, said Feng Fei, secretary of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, on Wednesday.
